Ocean Community Forum
WHAT IS THE OCEAN COMMUNITY FORUM?
The Ocean Community Forum is a partnership between parents, the local community and Ocean Academy. It is a valuable way to share ideas and views and for parents and the local community to make suggestions towards academy improvement.
The aims of The Ocean Community Forum is to:
- work together to improve the opportunities provided for our children
- share information, knowledge and skills
- meet in a mutually supportive environment
- further improve communications between parents/carers, the local community and staff/governors
The Ocean Community Forum does not have any statutory responsibilities, duties or powers in the academy.
WHO CAN BE PART OF THE OCEAN COMMUNITY FORUM?
Any parent or carer of children currently attending Ocean Academy is welcome to join any of The Ocean Community Forum meetings. The forum will be chaired by Mrs C Duggan (Principal) or Miss S Nicholls (Vice Principal). At times other members of the academy or local community will also attend the meetings depending on the agenda items and what the academy feels they would like to share, such as new initiatives.
WHY SHOULD I BE PART OF THE OCEAN COMMUNITY FORUM?
It gives us the opportunity to get together on a regular basis to work together collaboratively to enhance the Ocean Academy experience. We value your opinion and want you to have a voice within our academy.
HOW OFTEN WILL THE OCEAN COMMUNITY FORUM MEET?
Every term for about an hour. Each term The Ocean Community Forum meeting will be held at different times to try to enable as many different attendees as possible. We will offer face to face and online routes for attendance at each meeting.
WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE MEETINGS?
Anything related to improving the academy and further developing the partnership between the school and the community. The meetings will be informal and are an opportunity for an open discussion. Minutes of the meetings will be taken and these will be accessible on the academy’s website.
This is not the forum to discuss concerns or complaints involving individual children, families or members of staff. Please follow the appropriate route if you need to do this. The academy office will be able to support you with this. Any attendee who does not use the forum as expected will be asked to leave the meeting.
